Beautiful recent publication on the systemic aspects of violations of the human rights of women in maternity wards in Slovakia. The publication is based on qualitative research – in depth interviews with obstetricians and midwives, and builds upon our earlier research publication that was based on interviews with women about their childbirth experience (again conceptualised with human rights perspectives in mind). Both of the publications were published jointly by two Slovakia-based NGOs – Citizen, Democracy and Accountability, and Women´s Circles, and authored by an interdisciplinary team of experts that combined legal/human rights perspectives with perspectives of other social sciences including anthropology. The publications are unfortunately available in Slovak only, but have rather detailed English summaries (and the summaries are also available as separate documents):
